Video: Cruise ship survivor: ?So much chaos?

>> were both aboard the ship durin the accident. good morning to you both.

>> good morning. i want your respons of the ceo of the company in his discussion about the cruise saying he's grateful for the ill and behavior of the crew, that the crew performed very well. what's your reaction to that?

>> m reaction is that the crew was never inrmed. i can't blame the crew because they did not know anything. when everything ppened, they were just telling us to go back to our rooms. i was trying to find out where are the lifeboat does anyone speak english. they did nive us any information. they just kept telli us to go back to our rooms.

>> this is particularly frightening for you, maria, because you do not know how to swim.

>> corct. i don't know how to swim. there was no direction whatsoever. ihink the captain took more of a han in it then i think the ew would have been able to understand what was going on. but they weren't getting any announcement.

>> h said the cruise line emergencies, they hold leboat r drills every oer week. you saw one of the drill on saturday beforehe accident. how would you describehe drill?

>> we never saw a drill. our drill wasscheduled. we walked into our sta room and i looked at the itinerary. it says the next day, 5:00 p.m . that's when our drill was. we have never se a drill.

>> you bring it u because you have been onruise ships before.

>> yes. youad a very different experience on other cruise ships ?

>> ye with one hour of getting on the boat you have to go -- it's mandatory to go to is drill. theyake ur sea pass scan it and make sure every passenger was there. they make sure to tell you if anything was to happe that you ar going to scan your sea pass d we'll kno who got off the ip and who's still on the ship so they know who to look for. they didn't know who to look for and they are sending crew members on and they have never accounted for anyone.

>> you're describing chaos, essentially.

>> ye

>> yes.

>> givus aeeling of what it was like. how were crew members behaving?

>> the crew members were running around like the passenge. they had no idea what was going on, in my eyes they were just running around. theyouldn't answer any questions. there sn'tnybody speaking english. there was just so much chs. weento get on o boat when they fally snded the alarm and the door would not open on thatfeboat so melissa grabbed my hand and we went to the next boat.

>> you took your own rescue into your own hands, it sounds like.

>> yes.

>> when you hear the captain left the ship, that he didn't know there were fatalities we ard in this report, what's your reaction?

>> i dn't know that until we saw it on the news. astonishing that somebody would therwas no one who was in charge of our lifeboat. we had one individual that spoke she was a dancer.alia. she ended up leaving because she said she needed to find her friends. ere was no one from coa cruise lines saying, stay a this boat. when you get to the island or wherever we are -- they told us we we in nice, france. the crew members didt know.

>> where you were?

>> where we were. none informed them. they said if the captain had an emergency he would sound t it took an hour a a half f him to sound the alarm .

>> do you blame the captain or the cruise line itself, maria?

>> well, i believe that the cruise line should have been more prepared. they even had tenur gave us a red little ticket wit a number on it that wasn't even filled in with ourname. we asked for a copy of our passport because we didn't have is experience when we were on our cise in the royal caribbean cruise line . we said, we nd a copy of our passport. torrowmorning.ll give it to you people were i line for information. i don't think anything was organized. really do not. it's a very scary feeling. at one point i seen a bunch of crew members running past and it she's like mom, i don't think so. well, obviously there is much more to be investigated in this story. thank you so much. we're glad y're both shape. anksor being with us
